Working Conditions

Physical ability to stand and work for long periods of time necessary. Ability to bend frequently, kneel and lift up to 50 lbs. Some worked performed on lifts, scaffolds and ladders. Operation of power tools may be required. Exposure to dust, building materials and chemicals may occur. Safety equipment and proper clothing will be necessary. (OSHA, Red Cross & CPR Training provided)

Apprenticeship Training Period

The Apprenticeship Training Program is designed to be completed in 4 years with 5,000 hours of field work and 640 hours of classroom instruction training to achieve Journeymen status.

Training and Instruction

160 hours of classroom training per year is required to advance in status and pay rate in conjunction with 1250 work hours per year. Classes are held for 4 weeks straight at 40 hours per week. 7:30 – 4:00 each day in the Winter.


We currently sponsor the trades of: Bricklayer/Mason, Tile Setter, Tile/Marble & Terrazzo Finisher and Pointer, Caulker & Cleaner.



At least 18 years of age. Reliable transportation. Live within jurisdictional Counties of BAC Local #3 NY Buffalo. An interview with a Union and a Contractor Representative.


All tools are provided for the classroom training. The basic tools necessary for work are the responsibility of the apprentice.

Apprentice Wage Progression Schedule

Journeyman Wage – $30.56 Fringe Benefits – $20.97 Total – $51.53
1st Year – 50%
2nd Year – 60%
3rd Year – 70%
4th Year – $22.28

Fringe Benefits

Include Health and Welfare Fund, Annuity, Local Pension and an International Pension.

Union Dues

Apprentices- $50.00 initiation plus $12.00 per month book dues and Local hourly working dues.


Available only on the first Tuesday of every month from 9:00 – Noon at the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local No. 3 NY – Buffalo office. There is a $5.00 processing fee.
